Petley Hare has a rich history that dates all the way back to 1922 when James Bickle founded the South Oshawa Real Estate Company.
In 1952, Jame’s daughter, Olive Petley, took over the company and rebranded the firm as Bickle insurance. Fast forward to 1963 when Jim Hare acquired the company, which gave birth to PetleyHare Insurance Brokers.
After joining the firm in 1971, Jim’s eldest son, David Hare, took over the role as President in 1978 with the idea of expansion. Over the following years, David would acquire 11 brokerages.
PetleyHare continued its growth by opening branches in Bowmanville, Pickering, and Port Perry.
In 2013, the tradition carried on when David’s son, Adam Hare, transitioned from a career in media and marketing to join the family business as Marketing Director. With a diverse entrepreneurial background and a passion for technology, leadership, and culture, Adam launched the company’s first digital insurance division in 2015. His commitment led to his appointment as the third-generation president of PetleyHare in 2019.
Today, PetleyHare proudly carries forward the legacy of James Bickle, dedicated to providing the exceptional service he envisioned over a century ago.
